Is the Monster Rock guitar cable good for bass?

i bought a monster rock guitar cable. would the guitar cable be ok to use for a bass? i know there is also a bass model of the cable. if it would be ok to use, what would be the difference in sound between the guitar cable and bass cable?

They CLAIM that it handles low end frequencies better and projects harmonics better and is just right for today's bass guitarist!

Maybe you would possibly notice a difference if you were a professional recording act. However, I feel that you are not so it wont matter much. Especially if you are gigging live. Stage volume and the transfer of ambience to the PA will cover up any small difference a "bass specific" cable will make.

It is an awesome cable with a life-time warranty. Use it. It isnt going to hurt anyone or anything. If you were to pull them apart the guts would be 99% the same. I think the Bass cable might have a tiny bit more shielding, but I could be wrong, and it is unimportant. The guitar cables are shielded enough to eliminate hum and buzz.

Essentially they are the same thing. A really well shielded grounded cable with a lifetime warranty. beat the hell out of it.

What guitar pedal should I purchase?

I've been playing for about a year now and I have fallen in love with the instrument. Right now I have an Epiphone Les Paul which I'm playing through a Marshall MG100HDFX. I have a pedal board which consists of a Hardware Loop/delay pedal, a boss os2 overdrive pedal, an electro harmonix small clone chorus, and a flanger which i rarely use. Anyway I want to know what pedal i should considered adding to my pedal board. I play mostly rock but also play a lot of reggae rock such as Slightly Stoopid, Pepper, Stick Figure, Rebeloution, Expendables etc.

So basically what pedal should I consider buying to get a accurate sound of these types of bands right now I'm deciding between some phaser or the cry baby wah wah. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd have to agree, wah is a good idea. Pick up a good Dunlop Crybaby wah and go nuts. A Volume pedal is a good investment too. Look up "volume swells" on YouTube - you'll see delays and volume pedals in each vid i'm sure.

Also, all those pedals can get noisy. A good gate or noise gate pedal will keep the hiss down.

Signal loss can happen when you chain all those pedals together. You could also invest in a signal buffer. There is a company called "This Ones Mine" (T1M) that sell buffers that are very good and very cheap.

You could also pick up a second delay with a tap tempo on it (Boss DD7). Many players have two or more delays, one for long delays and one for short.

A good power source like the Dunlop DC Brick and a good pedal board like Pedal Train's stuff is always a good investment too.

What are the differences between these acoustic guitar woods?

Okay, I bought an Ibanez Montage, Flamed Maple Body, they have like 5 other types of wood:
quilted Maple
Solid Spruce
Koa
Cedar
what are the difference in these types of wood?

The following descriptions are cited from Carvin.com, in the Wood Guide section. The parts in parenthesis are my own input.

Flamed Curly Maple (Flamed means it's got the little tiger stripe design across the wood)
It is lighter in weight than Eastern Hard Rock Maple and produces singing highs with a tight low end.

Quilted Maple (Quilted means it's got a cloud design across the wood)
Quilted Maple produces similar tones to the Flamed Curly Maple. The figure can vary from large cloud shapes to smaller pockets ­ looks great with all translucent finishes and stains.

Spruce
Known for its pure light color and uniform grain, Engleman Spruce is well known for being one of the finest woods for Acoustic Guitar tops. It has a brighter tone than Cedar with a very nice and even low-end response.

Koa (Koa is very expensive due to its rarity)
Koa is an exotic medium weight wood grown exclusively in the Hawaiian Islands. It was used by ancient Hawaiians to build canoes and surfboards. Koa has warmth and sustain similar to Mahogany and also possesses the clear open tone of Alder. Koa looks wonderful whether you choose a tung oiled, satin or gloss finish.
Flamed Curly Koa is the premium wood for building Ukuleles and high-end acoustic guitars. Whether you choose to add Flamed Curly Koa to the top of your acoustic or solid body, the tone will benefit from added sweetness and pronounced midrange. Cedar
Cedar has a very nice reddish brown color with even straight grain and comes standard on our CL40. It has been used for hundreds of years as a top wood on classical and flamenco guitars. It has a very warm tone with subdued high end when compared to spruce.

What is proper sitting posture to sing while playing guitar?

I am quite experienced guitar player but I've just started learning how to sing. I've noticed, while singing posture is quite important, but I can't find any good posture for singing while sitting playing guitar. All postures are while standing. :/

I typically stand as well when I'm singing and playing, but when I've wanted to sit and create a more casual feel, I find the best way is to use a stool with horizontal slats. I put my right heel up on the slat so the knee is up and the guitar rests across that leg, and I leave my left leg down so my foot is flat on the floor about a foot in front of the stool. This helps me be able to keep my back straight and not be slouched over, which is important so you can sing properly.

How Do I Record My Guitar Using A Firewire Interface?

I've connected my guitar to the Firewire Guitar port, and connected the Interface to the Firewire port on the computer. How do I record my guitar using a program like Cubase, Quartz, or Audacity?

make sure you have the right drivers installed for your Guitar Port and simply select it as the input device in the software you're using. A quick search through the help files in your software should turn up easy instructions on how to do this.

Can i hook up a guitar with a usb cable to Fruity Loops?

I'm thinking of going out and buying a usb cable for my guitar so I can record some of the music I make. I have fruity loops and don't know if i'll be able to sync it up with my guitar. so if someone could help me, OR if I can't do this, someone please suggest some good software I can use with my guitar. Thank you guys!

You can do it actually. IF your guitar has a USB output(newer ones do) and you have a low latency sound card. My bass guitar only has a normal output jack, but I play it through my pc using the mic input. I cant use it in fruity though cause my soundcard is not low latency, so there is a very slight delay when I play it that way, which is very offputting.

What you need to do though is install the ASIO4ALL drivers first though, and set up FL to use the asio drivers instead of directx or soundcard drivers.

You then need to setup the IN input on a channel on the mixer and it will work no problem.

If you look in the help file for fruity it does describe this step by step, but it is easy to do.


Another alternative is Guitar Rig, its rather cool as it has all sorts of pedals and effects and stuff. Its tons of fun.
