I recently bought a Takamine G406s acoustic guitar that is quilted maple and solid spruce top with mahogny neck, so my question is do I need a humidifier for it? Also, how do you know when you're guitar is drying out? I've heard people leave comments on youtube videos about guitars sounding dry, so what's up with that?
Answer
You need to keep the humidity in the room where you store the guitar at 45% - 55%. Radio Shack sells an inexpensive hygrometer (humidity meter).
