guitar quick licks image
Robert
I have taken half of a guitar course, quit, and now am coming back trying to learn on my own. At this point this is what I know.
Know:
- How to hold the guitar, pick, strum, very basics
- How to read tab, and traditional music
- All the natural note positions on the neck
- Ode to joy
- Amazing Grace
- How to count beats
What I have problems with:
- Getting a clear sound when I play a chord
- Chord progression
- Chords in general
I know all the chords, I have them printed out but what should i do? Is there any fun little scales, licks, anything that could help me? Any quick little scales just for fun to warm up? Thank you guys so much!
Ps. I am basically asking where to continue my guitar learning
Answer
Continue from where you quit. Start retaking lessons again. Thats the best way . knowing all the chords is good but if you can't perform them yet there's no point skipping them to get to scales and soloing. A teacher will build you up gradually starting with chords/barre chords then the scales and licks ect come later. Thats how I was taught anyway. Stick with it. Practice.
