I know certain guitar decals affect the finish and polish of an acoustic guitars but do they affect the sound in any way?
I have an Acoustic Alvarez RD-20 and I wanna put a decal on the body but I'm not sure if the sound will be affected in the long run. Any ideas?
Answer
Decals affect the guitar negatively. Acoustic guitars make sound by allowing the top to vibrate as freely as possible, which is why guitar makers do everything they can to make the bracing inside as light but strong as they can. Anything you do - like putting decals on it - to hamper the top from vibrating cuts down on tone and volume. Don't do it.
