How much are cheap, but good, electric guitars?

What brand of electric guitars are good? Generally for electric guitar beginners(i play acoustic). Maybe one that comes with an amp(not a huge amp though). Any price range less than $500

It really depends on your taste. If I had that budget to get a first electric guitar, I might choose a Epiphone Les Paul Standard at about 400$ and get an amp separately.

Can I trade my lower quality electric guitar for an acoustic?

I have a Silvertone guitar beginner/starter package that I got a few years back, and I wanted to trade it in or sell it for an acoustic guitar. It's used, and I'm not looking for top quality, but I was just wondering whether I can get anything out of the Silvertone. I really would prefer an acoustic. Where should I start if I want an even trade?

I know you prefer the acoustic but sometimes an electric lying around wouldn't be a bad thing. Especially since most major guitar stores won't give you much for you starter package anyway. I would say keep the electric and invest a little time playing at a guitar center or local guitar store in the acoustic room. If you want high quality guitar with value in mind go with a takamine or ibanez. My first acoustic was a PF5 Cent from Ibanez. High quality acoustic guitar with pickup when I needed to be heard by a bigger crowd. The resounence on the body is beautiful and the guitar has bite in the midrange tones and pure high tones. Bass response is deep and fulfilling. Perfect for Jazz, Blues, and Rock. The Ibanez has the guts to go between music styles with excellency.

Really, there are so many nuances that go into the way a guitar sounds and how satisfied you will be with that sound. Honestly if you play with 3-4 guitars in your price range you will know which one you prefer right after you put the last guitar down. Infact there will be a guitar that you will play that you just wont want to stop playing because of how good it sounds to you. That is the guitar you should purchase.

If you want to get a good trade for your electric for money. Sell your starting package to a friend you know well for half of the price you paid for it. If your friend accepts then you will have a better deal then you would if you took it to a guitar store. Then take the money and use it towards an acoustic.

I haven't seen a Silvertone guitar in years. In my early days, Sears made that guitar.

Trading for an acoustic evenly may not be in the equation. You'll probably have to pay additional for the acoustic after the trade-in at a music store, but at least the Silvertone may help sway the total cost for you.

Is an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plain Top a good guitar for beginners?

Right now I have a Johnson starters kit, and I have been playing for a year and a half. I have been looking at the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plain Top (Heritage Cherry Burst) for a while now, and I went into Guitar Center and played one and loved it. I loved the sound and the finish on it. I'm just wondering if it is a good guitar for beginners.

yes its a good guitar. i also have one bought about a year ago it sounds great is just like the gibson one. although it's quite heavy so i wouldn't recommend it if you're small or can't carry heavy stuff but otherwise it's a good guitar and i don't regret buying it.

I need to know which is the best brand of guitars for beginners. I really like Epiphone not only because they are a part of Gibson but because they are great quality. If anybody has any advice on which brand (except for First Act or some other cheap brand) is best.

I think Yamaha make good acoustic guitars. I have heard that they are very robust, so will survive wear and tear, and they sound good. Whatever suits, really.
