Ok, so my Bc. Rich asm1 volume pot has a scratching sound when I turn it, when I turn it I hear no feed back from my pickups. When I first went to check it out I noticed that two of the parts that hold the coils inside of the pot were separated so I superglued them together...now I have the pot turning completely around with the same sound and only a little bit of feedback from the pickups and a buzzing sound...please help ;-;

Answer
Clearly, you need a new pot. Normally when a pot starts sounding scratchy, you can revive it by spraying contact cleaner inside and rotating the knob several times to clean it up. I'm unclear from your description which "parts" you applied super glue to, but wouldn't you agree that it didn't work?

Your guitar has humbucker pickups, so you probably need a 500k ohm pot....but double check to see what is printed on yours. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/dimarzio-500k-custom-taper-split-shaft-pot You'll also need a soldering iron kit which you can pick up at Radio Shack for $10. Before removing the old pot, make a note (or take a photo) of which contacts each wire goes to.

i bought a whole new pickguard with pickups and all and now all that is lefty is to connect it to the output jack.. but i need to replace the wire that connects from the volume pot, to the output jack...

The wire has like, a wire inside of it, so it's like two wires in one if you get what i mean.

where could i buy one of these, and about how much would they cost?

Answer

It’s a 300 dollar guitar if that helps, brand new. I have tested this guitar on 3 different amps, (1 tube, 2 solid state) and the guitar only stops making noise when I touch it. (Anywhere metal, including the tuning knobs) Again 3 amps & diffent part of the house, different wires, no pedals or effects. I have tried everything. Its the guitar and its in the electronics.

I do not have the option of taking this to get looked at, (I wouldn't be posting this here if I did) I have no money. I have also looked at websites like guitar project, ect and they don’t talk about simple ground-hum issues. I think it’s a volume/pot/ground. Is this simple? Any other suggestions, besides the obvious, I changed the cords, the socket, the power supply, lights, different house, etc.

Again, the sound goes away when I touch anything metal on the guitar. Can semi-handy guy ground this thing with common household tools? Or let me know what to buy semi cheap. Thanks in advance to all.
Please do not ask me to check the wires. I think we are past that. I have tried different complete set ups. (wires, outlets, houses, amps, cords, powers supllys) I have 7 guitars. Why would you answer......with a check the wires. Please I'll kill myself before I read another "check the wires"

Answer
That sounds like perhaps a reverse neutral/hot problem. Have You tried different electrical outlets? Lots of times, especially on older homes the neutral wire and hot wire from the electrical source are reversed. Also the amps, (older) do not have polarized cord plugs. Try rotating the ac cord 180 degrees. It is a simple polarization problem. My Fender amp had the same issues - took Me a bit to figure it out!

Where can I find metric mounting nuts for overseas guitars?

Q. I'm trying to find an 11mm mounting nut with an 8mm hole to replace the mounting nuts for the volume knobs and 1/4 plug mount on an Ibanez bass. Unfortunately, the only way it seems I can buy one is to buy new volume pots or a new 1/4 jack! Ibanez doesn't sell them individually either.

Does anyone know of a website or company where I can just buy the mounting nut?

Thanks!
