Would you recommend a guitar wall mount instead of a stand? Are there any negative effects on the guitar?

I'm trying to make some room in my bedroom, and right now my 3 guitars are all on stands, and it's making it a little tight.

I was thinking of buying 3 guitar wall mounts.

I was just wondering, is there any downside to this?

Would it have any negative impact on the guitars? Such as neck bending, etc.

Answer
I love the wall mounts. The only thing you've gotta look out for is that you don't scratch it on its way up or down.

As far as warping the neck goes, it's no worse than a regular stand, except maybe for the A frame ones. <<< Don't listen to that, it'll be fine. Ever notice they keep even the most expensive guitars on wall stands when you go to the music store?

Answer
Here are a couple of links to photos that will give you some ideas.

http://www.instructables.com/id/Guitar-wall-hanger/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss

The first link uses a standard hardware store tool hook, which could be mounted in a variety of ways. Probably a good idea to measure your guitar neck to make sure you get the right size. If you have lots of guitars, just mount a bunch of the hooks to a single plank of wood (a nice, sanded 2x4 would do fine) then mount the 2x4 to your wall.

The second link is better for individual hooks, and uses a split piece of dowel as the base.

Hope this helps!

What guitar stand should i buy for an explorer shaped guitar?

I have just bought a gibson explorer and i need a stand for it, my dad won't let me have a guitar wall hanger so i need a stand. i saw a couple of hercules stands on the internet that 'auto-lock' your guitar into place at the neck. Would an explorer neck fit in as it is quite thin? and they are a few different models and i don't know which one is best, can someone plz help me? thanks

Answer
Any stand will work as long the guitar is being hung by the head. Just make sure the stand is high enough so your guitar isn't sitting on the ground.

Since the head of the guitar is bigger than the neck, it will work just like any other guitar. With the exception of those guitars with no heads on the ends of the neck.

How can I put this in my drywall?

I have a Fender Guitar wall hanger and I want to install it in my bedroom in the drywall. The problem is that I don't own a drill. Is there anyway I can install the anchors and the screws into the wall without a drill or am I screwed? <--(horrible pun intended)

Thanks in advance.

Answer
They do make anchors that can be driven into the wall, then you tighten the screw to mushroom the anchor behind the drywall. Check your local hardware store or home center. They look like the ones n the link below, but have a point on the end. Hope this helps.

Do you think this will be ok for a 'Fender Jazz' bass guitar?

Thanks!

Answer
According to the info on another site, it has a load capacity of 7kg (15.4 lbs) It will hold your guitar. Whether leaving your guitar permanently outside of the case is a good idea is another discussion. If you have swings in temperature or humidity, you guitar will be better off in the case, which acts as a buffer against environmental changes. It's also ding-proof in the case.

Guitar Wall Mount/Home Improvement Question?

So I've had a guitar wall mount in my wall for over 2 years for a couple years and recently I've noticed the top screw (only two screws) coming out a bit and recently it's come out even more. I'm concerned that my guitar will fall so I'm wondering if I can buy something like dry wall or something in that category to fix this. I also have two other guitar wall mounts as well, one of which is completely out of the wall. How can i patch up the holes the screws made?

Answer
You should have the screws in the studs. If they aren't, move them. If you can't get them in the studs, get a piece of plywood, paint it and screw it to the studs. Then mount your guitar mount to the plywood. You can make it look decorative if you choose the right colors.
