my daughter is wanting to learn to play guitar.and i cant afford guitar lessons.

There are several beginners DVDs but don't know any aimed specifically at children. Maybe just try this free online program first. I bought a lot of DVDs when I started playing and honestly many of them just aren't good. Justin Guitar is as good as any videos I've owned and it's free. Read through the first part of the first page as an introduction and then the lessons are below that. There is a "Getting Started" lesson and then it progress by stages from there. Good luck to her.
