I am a guitarist, and I'm exploring the world of jazz.
Do you know any jazz sub-genres that its songs have as leading instrument the guitar(electric, jazz or acoustic)? I have listened to a few songs with lead guitar and piano or strings as backing instruments, but it was on the radio and i can't find any others. So, What is this music genre? What should i look for?

not sure but acid jazz and all kind of jazz can use the guitar as the leader instrumental. anyway you just can check out the following great guitarests:
1- george benson (best jazz guitarest on the 70's). (my best jazz guitarest mix with rock).
2- earl klugh. (no.2 after george benson).
3- joe pass (from the old days of swing era)
4- larry carlton (he's the most famose white jazz guitarest now member of fourplay)
5- allan holdsworth (play same like slow glam rock).
6- lee ritenour (ex-member of fourplay).
7- chieli minucci (saw him play on java jazz festival play same joe satrianai).
8- chuck loeb (latin jazz)
9- jeff golub (lation jazz)
10- john scofield (love his mix with jazz funk and rock).
11- joyce cooling (very nice smooth female guitarest)
12- trisum (budjana, tohpati & blawan) indonesian best jazz guitarests.
13- wes montgomery (best jazz guitarest on the 50's and 60's).
14- pat metheny (same larry cralton).
15- charlie christian (best jazz guitrest on the 30's and 40's).
16- john mclaughlin (very great and changbale style blues, jazz, world music).
17- al di meola (great jazz with rock).
18- martin taylor (best jazz from the u.k.) buy the sacd very nice sound.
