How can some guitar chords have so many different formation?

Today I look up some guitar chords (Bb maj and F maj), and I found that there are so many different formation but I don't know which one is the correct one?

btw some chords seems impossible, some i can't even reach.

Answer
Probably to be very effecient, most advanced players ask other less advanced players to pick the variation CLOSEST to the nut. Within the first five frets, almost any chord can be played. This way it's more comfortable to play lead and rhythm at the same time. Yes, different chords further up the neck DO add some coloration and variation in sound, but for someone that has just started looking up guitar chords, attempt with all your might to find ones closest to the 1st couple frets. It will save you a lot of confusion and time. I ignored this advice for years. Not anymore.

What are guitar chords that sound good together?

I've been thinking for days for a new song. I know how to play guitar but i have like song block. Lol. Do you know any guitar chords in major or minor that sounds good together. Like they blend right next to each other?

Answer
A useful chord progression generator can be found here:
http://www.hotfrets.com/songanator.asp
This will help you get some very good sounding chords, in whatver key you want.

But you should try learning how to build chords based on the scale you're using. If you're using a Major scale in the key of C, you would have:

C major - (I or root note)
D minor - (ii)
E minor - (iii)
F major - (IV)
G major - (V)
A minor - (vi)
B diminished - (vii)

And any combination of these chords will sound good if used together. Try using a I - IV - V combination or I - ii - IV - V

What program to use to make acoustic guitar chords?

I am making a song using Magix Music maker 16. I can't create guitar chords with it, so it looks like I have to use a separate program to emulate two guitar chords (D chord and G chord), and export the mp3 into music maker. What program can I use, that is free, preferably

Answer
I'm guessing you are not a guitar player. Chords are the same on an electric and an acoustic guitar so, what you probably mean is you want an acoustic sounding guitar playing D and G chords. Take a look at "band in a box" - you type in the chords and you can have any number of guitars play them for in any rhythm and temp or genre. Very cheap software that works very well but, not free. http://www.band-in-a-box.com/

I need to learn the basic guitar chords. If you have a website that has a printable document with it, please list it! I really need to learn these. Thanks in advance!

Answer
Any time I'm teaching a total beginner, I teach them what are called "open chords" which means that they utilize open strings. I typically teach them these ones first:

G, C, D, E, A, E-, A-, D-

There are thousands of songs using only these chords or a small variation (turning the E, A, or D into E7, A7, or D7 for example).

Here's a pretty nice chart with lots of open chords (and a few barre chords for good measure). You needn't worry about learning 13th chords and stuff right now; just learn those 8 I mentioned and you'll be ready to play some music, then start tackling tougher chords as they come your way.

How to make guitar chords played on the piano sound like a song?

I play in the praise band at my school, you guessed it, on the keyboard. The only music I have is the guitar chords. Before you say it, I already know how to play guitar chords on piano. That isn't my problem. My problem is that it just sounds like I'm play guitar chords, and it's sounds stupid and boring.

Is there any easy way to jazz it up a bit to where it sounds like a song? And no, I cannot get the sheet music for most of the songs.

Answer
I play a lot of keyboard, and I also write many of my own parts off of the guitar chord progressions. What I often do when I`m writing my own lines is outline the basic chord in the left hand and then play on the tones a bit more in the right. like, I might play the root and fifth of the chord in the left hand, and noodle around with the third, seventh and ninth in the right. One thing to keep in mind: Since you`re performing with guitars, they will likely be doing the main outlining of the chords, which leaves you free to get as creative as you want as long as you stay in the right key. so, for example, one thing you can try to make it more interesting is to really pull the chords apart between the two hands and several octaves of the piano; instead of just playing a solid chord, make it into running eighth notes. you can make up all sorts of neat patterns that compliment the vocal/melody line. Just get really used to hearing the chord progressions and get a feel for what notes fit in where, and have fun with it! :)

How do people play piano songs using guitar chords ?

A lot of people who cover songs on youtube say that they don't use sheet music, but they use guitar chords. I was just wondering how. Are the guitar chords the same concept as they would be for piano ?

Answer
When they know what guitar chord that's in the song they can find it on the piano. Say it was an A chord. They know which key to play on the piano in order to make it sound like the guitar in the song. It's just now it's on the piano.
It's the same notes just on a different instrument.
