First Electric guitar and Finger picking?

So i am fairly new to the electric guitar. But i fell inlove with the blues and i think slide blues while finger picking is a god sent. I am trying to learn finger picking and i wanted to know if i could play any style of music with finger picking or if i will have to learn to use a pick also. Also if anyone knows any online sites or exercises that teach finger picking for free i would greatly appreciate the link. Also any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am new to this so if something doesn't make sense its just the inexperience and thank you in advance for any help!

On of the most famous guitar players ever, Chet Atkins, I don't believe, ever owned a pick in his life! So, YES, you can play any kind of music with your fingers. In fact, I have always preferred my thumb to a pick because in my opinion, it just sounds better.

How do you do solos when playing classical guitar style(fingerstyle)?

When playing classical guitar and finger picking. What kinds of scales do most classical guitar artists use to write pretty melodies and make solos. Please give me some scales to use, and positions. Also links to sites with the this information would be appreciated greatly. Thank you!

How are finger-picking patterns written as chords (on guitar) read?

I got this app on my phone off the google play store called "Chord Generator" or something like that. It shows chord progressions for guitar. There is "finger-picking" which is like small melodies. It shows them written as chords, but I don't know how to play them. For example, in finger-picking, It shows the chords Gm, Dsharp, (sorry, this stupid keyboard won't let me type certain symbols) F, Gm. Like I said, they're shown as chords, but they're played as finger-picking (I only said that loads of times, just to be sure that you understand) and I don't know what single-notes are played.

One fairly common method of finger picking chords is to pluck the strings of the chord only (and not open strings) all at the same time, with the thumb and the other three or four fingers each plucking a different string.
Or you quickly cascade down the the chord, one string after another until the chord is finished.

There are lots of different finger picking patterns. If you know the song, try to see how the guitar sounds and imitate the pattern.

I noticed on the first line there, It looks like I see the very first chord played with a slow cascade with an upward slow strum so that each note goes separately until the chord chord is played (with each number not in line but at an angle) , then the same chord is played whole twice.(all numbers line up vertically)

So you could also see this as a finger pick up 5 strings and then pluck the chord twice.

I'm learning how to play Moments by One Direction right now, but I'm starting to get blisters on my fingers. There are these things that Sungha Jung wears on his fingers so he won't get blisters....? Not a guitar pick.. a finger pick that COVERS your fingers to prevent blisters. Anyways, what are some substitutes for them if I don't have any?
Any SUBSTITUTES that I can use that most people have in their homes. Not where I can buy them, SUBSTITUTES.

How important is finger picking when playing electric guitar?

I recently started playing classical guitar (about 6 months ago) and finger picking/plucking is really important when playing classical but I want to switch to electric at some point so should I bother to still improve my right hand? I've always concentrated more on my left hand because my fingers are ridiculously short.

You should definetly learn how to use a pick, but do not neglect your finger picking.

Perhaps you could try a style that some of the world's hottest guitar players use called "hybrid picking.?

This is a means by which you hold the pick between the thumb and forefinger, and use your second and third fingers to pluck upward on other strings. This is a great technique, and since you already have a great start with finger picking...I'd study this area.

Here's a little exercise that got me started using pick and fingers...

Hold down the first and second strings at the 3rd fret using your 3rd (ring) finger on the second string at the 3rd fret and your pinkie on the first string at the 3rd fret.

With your pick, hit the open 4th string (D) and immediately hammer on the 2nd fret of the same string....

Then use your your second finger to strike the second string /3rd fret note you're already holding, followed by your ring finger striking the 1st string 3rd fret note.

Then use your pick to hit the open 3rd string G, followed by a finger picked 2nd and 1st string again.

Back to the open D again..etc.

It's counted like this ....

.........1....................&.............
Open D, hammer on 2nd fret,

.....2..........................&..........
2nd string-3rd fret-------1st string 3rd fret

......3........&........
open 3rd string G

.........4...........................&.....
2ndstring-3rd fret----1st string 3rd fret

The 3rd string open G is the only note that has a quarter note length..the rest are all 8th notes..if that helps?

Remember...keep your fingers ( 3rd and 4th) anchored on the 1st and second strings at the 3rd fret..they should not move.
