Alright so i just started electric guitar and i need to buy a cheap electric guitar. So what type should i get, i like the looks of the metal guitars but many people said it's not that good. Please help me. What should i get the electric guitar like fender or metal guitar like jackson?

Answer
It really depends on how much you have to spend and what your musical tastes are. Fender and Jackson both make good guitars, but you have to be careful. The Fender Telecaster is used primarily for country music. The Fender Stratocaster is used for all different types of music but the sounds are somewhat limited by the fact that they employ single-coil pickups. Jackson guitars are used primarily for hard rock and heavy metal music.

My recommendation for a starter guitar: Get one with two single-coil pickups and one dual-coil humbucking pickup with a tremolo system. ESP, Fender, Ibanez, Jackson, and Schecter all make guitars with these specifications. And don't order one online. You need to go to the store and try them out. If you don't like the look or the feel of the guitar, you won't play it. Try out different types until you find the one that fits your taste.

What is the difference between the Jackson RR5 Rhoads guitar and Jackson RR5FR Rhoads guitar?

Answer
The bridge.
RR5FR has a Floyd Rose (FR) double locking tremolo.
RR5 does not.

Edit: RR5's is a string-through adjustable bridge. Not to mention gold hardware as opposed to the black of the RR5FR.

What guitar strings are good to play master of puppets with?

Chris

I am using this song as an example because you have to move your pick back and forth and then go up a string to do the intro. I recently got a guitar (Jackson Kelly) with strings that are harder to do this with than my old strings.

What strings would someone recommend for playing this kind of stuff with? I dont know anything about gauges

Answer
Ernie Ball super slinky!

Ok , the problem is, pushing the bridge up, I can pull the bridge down, Before something snapped, i could always push the bridge up. But now i cant. Usually when i push the bridge up the sound goes higher, but when you pull the bridge the sound, sounds lower, but if i were using tremolo i would push the tremolo down to make the sound lower. pls. reply . My Guitar is a Jackson dinky sunburst.

Answer
So basically when you try to push the bridge up, it lowers the sound. Very common problem. The snapping sound you heard was the springs detaching, or breaking off. Open up the back of your guitar, and you will see some springs there (In this case there may be springs, but one or two might be out of place, or not even attached). Simply hook up the spring to one end, and attach to the other (If the spring is on the guitar's left side, attach the spring to the left side of the Bridge, if it's in the middle, attach to to the middle, e.t.c.). It should be able to play after that. However, if you cannot attach the spring again, you may have broken the spring, and need a new one. If this is the case, you can just run down to your local music store, and ask them to order the part for you (Springs cost about $1.50 each, so they're cheap). If none of these are the case, there is no other option but to bring it to the repair shop. I'm assuming you don't know a whole lot about guitar terminology since you are asking this question, so DO NOT try to repair this yourself because you can damage the guitar instead of fixing it (And of course, no one wants that), unless it was one of the two possibilities I have just explained. If it's not one of the two possibilities, the repair should cost around $30. Hope this helps you out.

What's the best way to go about painting a spiders web on my guitar?

I have a Jackson guitar in red, it's pretty chipped and battered so I figured I can't make it look any worse by painting it. I want to paint a black spiders web all over the body. I want to drip the paint on so the spiders web is quite thick (almost like you'd do with icing on a cake). Can anybody recommend what type of paint to use? Could I use ordinary household paint?

Answer
In order to get the texture you are looking for, I would recommend using glue. There are a couple of different ways you can apply the glue to get the results you are looking for.

You can use a clear glue such as this one...
http://doitbest.com/Wood+glue-Eclectic+Prod-model-561612-doitbest-sku-347431.dib
...and die it the color you are looking for. For die, you may be able to simply add acrylic paint or even food color.

Another method is to simply apply the glue however you like and then paint the entire surface afterward.

TIPS:
1. Be sure to scuff the entire guitar with either scotch-brite, steel wool, or sand paper (220 to 320 grit) before applying the glue or paint. This will give you a bondable surface. It will also help remove smaller blimishes in the surface.

2. Protect your work. Once you have the guitar looking good, you don't want the paint and glue chipping away the next time you pick up your axe. Use a couple of coats of varnish to protect the new surface. But be warned, most varnishes leave a slight yellowish tint. the more coats you add, the more yellow you will see. You can make reds start to look orange or blues look green.

If you are willing to put a little money into it, you can get 2 part epoxy clear coat in an spray can.
http://www.repaintsupply.com/pd_2_part_2k_aerosol.cfm
This is excelent clear coat that is good enough for touch-ups on cars. once you activate the can, it is good for about 20 hours. The high pressure spray tip atomizes the clear coat as close to a professional spray gun as you can imagine. It is well worth the money if you want a nice looking finish.
