How do you make playing electric guitar standing up easier?

Q. I have been playing guitar for about 1 and a half years, but I only really played sitting on my bed, now I'm trying to break the habit but I'm finding it really hard.
Does anyone have any suggestions on to make playing the guitar standing up easier.
I have a guitar strap.

Answer
I did the exact same thing and thought I'd never learn to play standing. All you can do is start practicing that way. It will be tough for a while but you'll get the hang of it. When I started jamming with my first band I was actually taking a stool with me to sit on. After a while I felt kinda stupid doing that so I just sucked it up and started playing standing. It took 2 or 3 weeks to get used to it though.

I'm looking for a good guitar stand that's firm, stable, and won't damage my guitar in anyway. I was looking at some proline stands and it said something about damaging nitrocellulose finished guitars. I just bought and Epiphone G-400 SG so if could get some products that'd be great, thank you.

hi contact your local music store they would know.

Check out http://www.takeastandinc.com. On those stands, the guitar hangs so you should have no problem. You're right though, any other guitar stand really doesn't work too well.

Take a Stand wood guitar stands can be ordered in a variety of different woods, finishes, and designs. Check them out.

How much does just any guitar stand sell for? Thanks.

Answer
It all depends on the type you want.
A basic stand will run you anywhere from $10 or over, depending on the brand.
There are other types like triple stands that hold three or more and range in price from $20+.

Walk into your local music shop and look for one that suits your needs and you'll be happy!

Hi!, i have just bought the Black Metal Guitar Stand (http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gear-One-GS-2-METAL-GUITAR-STAND-102564515-i1167832.gc) but i simply don't know how to set it so i need some simply steps to get it armed. I need this a lot thanks for your help.

Answer
Fascinating. I understand that you need help, and I just want you to know that it hurts very bad, and I'm holding back on a remarkable amount of sarcasm.

It has three legs. Fold them out so it stands up.

The bottom piece that cradles the butt of your guitar... Hold it parallel with the stand, stick the peg through the hole, then twist it and it'll settle into the position it needs to be in. It's supposed to be able to move so it can accommodate any style of guitar you put in it.

Adjust the top arm of it so that when your guitar is in the stand it feels stable. Lower is usually better, but make sure your guitar doesn't lean so far back that it whacks its head on something.

Aside from that, I don't know what you couldn't get. It's a very straightforward device. It's a stand. It... stands.
