guitar tablature books image

S.C.I.E.N.

i'm a guitar player and i know limited amount of music theory. i took lessons for a little bit but tablature books kinds of ruined the whole "traditional" thing for me. i really want to go to college for music and you need to know so much to get in... i have to study like crazy.

any recommendations would be great.

Answer
Music Theory for dummies. - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Music-Theory-Dummies-Michael-Pilhofer/dp/0764578383

Its a killer resource.

It covers time signatures, scales, keys, cadences all sorts. I had already learned music theory from random articles, lessons from buddies but reading it kinda collated everything pretty well..It also comes with a CD

Definitely check it out.

If you're interested in music theory..You should TRY to learn a little piano. It really makes transcribing a lot easier.

Or you can check out some music theory for guitar by Justin Sandercoe. His youtube is www.youtube.com/justinsandercoe

I'm looking for those authorized Metallica Tablature books online but I donty want to buy them I just want to see the tabs. I'm sure there is a website that shows these tabs.

Anybody know some good sites?

Answer
you can steal things from just about anywhere. Why not just go to a book store, buy it, make photocopies of it, then return the book?

Selling Books on Amazon and condition rating?

Q. I noticed just about everybody has their book listed in good condition to new condition...I find this hard to believe. I have some old guitar tablature books, but they are bent up...but everything is intact. How should I list them?
thanks

Answer
idk
good to new, i'd say they fall around good as far as appearance because nothing interferes with their function
and since they're totally intact, i'd say amazing condition for their age if they're really old
if they're not that old, i'd say good condition, ''gently loved''

What is a good guitar songbook for beginners?

guitar tablature books image

Krista

I know like 10 chords really well and can read music. I started playing a year ago and took a basic guitar class. I know a few songs for lead and for chords. What would a good songbook be for me?
Would the taylor swift one be good for some of my first songs?

Answer
I don't know any good song books, because I usually get my songs off the Internet. A good place to look for songs is ultimate-guitar.com. It's free by the way. They have songs posted in regular tab, and in files made for the PowerTab (a free tablature editing program for Windows that can be downloaded) and for Guitar Pro (also a tablature editor, but is not free). The site also has user-made lessons. Go to all-guitar-chords.com for chord diagrams.

The tablature editors can also play the tabs you download. Of course, you can edit tabs and make your own. They usually have built-in chord and scale libraries, among other useful things. Other than PowerTab and GuitarPro, I find TuxGuitar to be another good free tab program.

Are there any ways of getting Guitar tablature books? If so where can i get them?

guitar tablature books image

bigjoev198

I have been playing guitar for 11 years now and I pretty much teach myself. But there are times that i feel like playing a song by one of my fave bands, but i am limited to what i have. So can anyone please tell me if there are any places that I can get guitar tablature books or is that no longer a possibility because of the industry banning it

Answer
www.ultimate-guitar.com

This is where i get all of mine from. All you have to do is type in a song name or artist and it will show you a list of tabs for that song or artist.

How do I go about publishing a guitar tablature book?

guitar tablature books image

mike j

I know its a pretty vague question, but any help is appreciated. Id like to publish a book of songs mick taylor was on when he played with john mayall. how would I go about getting the rights from them to print the songs? What kind of tab program do most tab books use?

Answer
Great idea. But, you got to look at the legal issues with tablature today. And secondly tabs can only be published by big corporations who actually have permission to know the %100 truth of how the song is played. So, unless you're absolutely sure you know how to play it (the way Mick does) and you have permission from Mick Taylor, and you're with a well-known company to get these rights, I doubt the industry will let you proceed with this.

Best thing to do is to just type it up, make it look fancy, and show it off to your friends!
