How to make guitar cover videos for youtube?

I am thinking about starting to make guitar cover videos to put on youtube, just for fun. The problem is, I really don't know how to make a good guitar cover. Do I need a camera, or can I just use the camera that is built into my computer? Do I need a special microphone? What all do I need, how do I set up, and just how to do it overall? In detail please. Also, what editing software should I use?

You can just use the camera on your computer. I did that when I first started doing guitar covers but the quality wasn't too good so I bought a Webcam (Microsoft LifeCam VX-2000) that has better quality. You don't have to edit your videos but if you want to have better sound and video effects that would be good. I just use Windows Movie Maker that's built into my computer and I just started using Trakax editing software. This is the website: http://www.trakax.com/

So far I have seen albert lee vituoso licks video" I could nt really pick up much maybe if I had tabs.

I saw joe pass video and was ok I picked up a thing or two, but not too much.

What video have any of you watched and learned some good stuff from?

Check out Andy Aledort's DVD magazine,Guitar DVD,I think it comes out trimonthly but it has cool stuff for all levels.Plus It comes with the tablature of the lessons in order.

Hello, I'd like to make a few guitar videos for Youtube and I want to have a sort of shadow effect going over my eyes to make it a bit "dramatic". I don't want my whole face covered in the shadow though, pretty much just my eyes. Thanks for any help.

Hey! The best way to achieve that is with your lighting, grab like an open face lamp and put like piece of paper or cardboard to create like a cutting effect play around with it till you get your results! you could always do it in post production (editing) if your a computer buff but play around with your lighting till you get the desired effect :) cheers

How could I get my webcam to record a video, and a separate microphone record the audio into Audacity?

The reason why I asked is because I'm trying to make good guitar videos, and I want to record my amp form a separate microphone into Audacity where the sound is better, and have the visual from my webcam. My webcam is a Logitech and I have the Logitech software, and Window movies maker.

Answer
Download Total Screen Reocorde to record a video. Though it records audio, but you can disable the audio recording and record the audio with Audacity.

Is there any good camcorders for recording Guitar Covers ?

Cause I'm looking for a good camcorder at a good price and I'm not talking about guitar cover covers I'm talking about like guitar tabs. So does anyone know a really good camcorder for making guitar videos? This may look like this should be in the camcorder section about this is about guitar stuff.

the zoom Q3 or Q3hd are good.

normal camcorders have bad sound for music recording.

this is because of a feature that most people actually WANT in a camcorder: "automatic gain control".
it automatically turns the recording volume up and down, so loud things dont distort and quiet things dont disappear.
but for music, that becomes "hey let me remove all your dynamics for you"... not so helpful.

to get a video camera that lets you set your own gain.. you have to pay for a more professional model.

BUT. the Q3 is different because earlier versions of the product were originally a pocket recorder for doing music. they later added video capability. so you get a good audio recorder with "good enough" video.

the hd version is more expensive, but if you are just going to put it online lo-res anyway, the cheaper one will work too.

or another brand of the same kind of thing: Olympus LS-20M HD
and i think alesis made one, but i dont know if its any good.

How to learn the guitar without getting bored?

Whenever I try to pick up my guitar and watch guitar videos, I easily get bored and put it back to its stand. I'm kind of a beginner too. How can I learn my guitar with enjoyment?

Answer
You have the same problem as all the other guitarist who get bored. Stop practising what you already know and concentrate on the things you have difficulty with and what you don't already know.

Or, take courses with an advanced teacher.
