The difference is in how "thick" the body is. Thin line guitars tend to be thinner (thus the name) than a traditional guitar.
A thinline guitar will generally have a more shallow sound than a full sized guitar when played acoustically. When you plug them into an amplifier, you shouldn't notice any difference in the tone. Thinline guitars are also less prone to feedback.
