How can I apply mosaic to my guitar?

I recently finished making a telecaster with my dad and was at Pier 1 Imports. I saw a table with mosaic and was wondering if i could do that to a guitar. What materials should i use and how? I've never done this before. How do i cut pieces? Are they precut? How???

Answer
Do not apply mosaic tiles to your guitar if you want to play it again and have it sound right.
Gluing on tessera (tiles) will negatively alter the resonance of your instrument.
However you can repurpose an old, unused or damaged guitar into home decor with a mosaic tile embellishment. You can create a decorative mosaic design using small tiles, flat-backed cabochons, vintage jewelry, flat clay beads, buttons or a combination of materials. Mosaic tiles with uniform shapes are the simplest choice for a guitar mosaic, as you can place the tiles flush against each other and save yourself the grouting step. A mosaic guitar can be more than a decorative element; it can be a conversation piece.

Here are ten steps to making a mosaic decoration on an old, unused or damaged guitar;

=( why?

PD: i think im addict to chocolate cause if i dont eat it atleast 1 time a week i start been crazy

Answer
mmmmmm...chocolate....oh, did you ask a question?
Unless you are allergic to the stuff, or if it's making you fat, I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy your treat. The power of suggestion may be at play here as well as any physiological changes due to whatever is in the chocolate. Some performers have things like lucky socks, lucky underwear, jewelry, etc. You have chocolate.

Where can I find a pattern for a guitar friendship bracelet?

I'd really like to find a pattern for a guitar friendship bracelet. However, I can't really understand the arrows so maybe step by step directions? Please and thank you :)

Answer
I never heard of this until seeing your Q. I found this site for you and hope it helps:

http://friendship-bracelets.net/pattern.php?id=3308

That link leads to actual guitar patterns available on the site. They have lots of others patterns as well as the guitar ones. The other tabs, as you can see, lead to videos and tutorials (both written and diagrams). I looked at them and they are very clear and easy to follow. You shouldn't have any problems if you take advantage of both the diagrams and videos. Videos link: http://friendship-bracelets.net/videos.php

There are two kinds of diagrams, one black and white with arrows for the actual patterns, and the other, the one you should start with, is simple drawings of the different knots used. color coded so you can follow each string. http://friendship-bracelets.net/tutorial.php?id=66

Once you learn how to make the knots and what the codes on the black and white instructions mean, you should be able to follow them.

I found several sites that use actual guitar string instead of fiber string for making these. How the color changes are done, I don't know. You'll have to figure some way to have at least two colors, otherwise the design won't show. Perhaps mix guitar string with colored, light weight and flexible wire from a craft store. The jewelry section should have gold to contrast with the dull silver of the guitar strings. I know I've seen other colored craft wires in other sections of the craft stores but don't remember where. One of the employees should be able to help you locate them. You could even just use the colored wires and forget the guitar strings. You still have the instrument design weaved and knotted into the completed bracelet. Or use fiber yarns, perhaps hand-embroidery floss...dozens of lovely colors, including metallics.

I do hope this site helps you with this craft project. I'm glad I came across this Q. My kids would love to wear these and I just know my daughter will have a ball making them. Have fun.

EDIT: What I meant by "I never heard of this" was the making the bracelets out of wire. Nor about this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZe-3PgmTNU. Unfortunately, they never say just what the charity is.

Is it better to use html code or not in ebay listings?

I make and sell guitar picks and guitar pick jewelry on ebay, and I use html for my listings. I heard that many people can't view html on their mobile phones. Am I doing more harm than good by using html in my ebay listings? Thanks.

Answer
Whether you are using HTML or not, as long as your listing get people to purchase your stuff, interested or trust you are a good seller. That is enough.

If you are worried mobile users can't view your listing, try not using advanced HTML or complicated HTML. However, this shouldn't be a big problem, as long as your product is nice and priced reasonably. It should sell.

How do I turn images into guitar pick shapes using gimp or photoshop?

guitar jewelry

Q. I already make bottle cap images and scrabble tile images using GIMP. I also have photoshop but I don't know how to make the images on there yet. Right now I need to know how to make regular images into the shape of guitar picks to print out and customize guitar picks into awesome jewelry or what ever. Can someone please help? And also if anyone could tell me how to make any kind of images for bottle caps or scrabble tiles etc on photoshop, info would be greatly appreciated for that too. Thanks.
Pbrush doesn't help. I don't quite understand your instructions. Thanks anyway.
There is no pen tool on GIMP only paint brush and pencil tool. I want to be able to print out the shaped images and glue them on guitar picks so I need to make sure I make them in the right size and shape for a real guitar pick.

Answer
That would be very simple in GIMP or Photoshop - both are more or less identical for simple tasks like this.

Simply open an image in GIMP, use the pen tool to make a guitar pick shape (a vector path). Hit enter on your keyboard to turn the path to a selection, right click the layer in the layers dialog and choose add layer mask, choose the option "from selection", then hit Add.

Add a new background layer, drag it under your guitar pick layer, fill the new bakcground layer with colour using Edit > Fill with FG colour.

@ MW don't be ridiculous, GIMP opens images in less than a second.

EDIT> YES THERE IS A PEN TOOL IN GIMP - it's called the "Paths Tool" - the icon is a "Pen" - here's a tutorial which describes how to use it http://www.squidoo.com/gimp-tutorial-the-pen-tool - here's the user manual page for the Paths Tool http://docs.gimp.org/2.8/en/gimp-tool-path.html
