How do I get better at phrasing in Blues?

I play guitar.
I love blues , John Mayer , SRV , BB King ..
I have a lot of good licks and I think I am pretty good , but sometimes I have a problem with the phrasing and lets say you go from 1 to 5 (chord) , I cant make that "statement" and let you hear the difference when your changing. Any advice?

Man I didn't understand what that other guy said at all so maybe I'm not getting the thrust of your question but as far as I know phrasing is a function of how you play a melody line not the harmony or rhythm guitar part.

Assuming you want help with your melodic phrasing I normally tell folks to just SLOW DOWN. Stand on a note for a while or bend it this way and that till it's just crying to be resolved. Blues is very very much a slow tension/release type of a game. Sure there are tons of quick bluesmen with very complex licks but the best of the best are simple artists who make an audience beg for that next note.

Ever heard of "the BB box" it's what,..4 notes my friend. So slow down and wait for each new note to knock at the door before letting it in. Simplify.

What is the piece of string called that ties around the headstock of the guitar and where can I buy one?

Q. Im looking for that thing for an acoustic that ties around the headstock from the guitar strap. I know planet waves do a quick release but I don't really like the look of that. Does anyone know what i want?

I think I know what you mean. The only ones I've seen come with the strap so I don't know where you'd get a separate one. Good luck though.

What is a really good/best game for ps3 that i should get?

I would just like to know what is a good game for ps3. I would like to stay away from shooter games. I would prefer simulation,strategy or maybe sports but not shooter/action, I already have too many of those. No guitar hero or rock band

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Driving/Racing Simulator. Made by Polyphony Digital, a Sony Company. The most purest racing title available as it uses real life racing tactics to succeed, including proper braking in and out of corners, drafting behind cars to gain speed, as well as following the proper racing line to get the quickest lap time on the course. Real car data and sounds are used. First time Ferrari is in a Gran Turismo game and the available cars are truly impressive, including the F40 Supercar, 599 Coupe, the 2007 Formula One car, and a few others. In addition to the Ferrari, many brands from around the world offer a couple of their best vehicles. Citroen, Lancia, Audi, Chevrolet, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Aston Martin, Jaguar, MINI, BMW, Ford, Dodge, Lexus, VW, and more.

The only two cons are it doesn't have damage to provide the ultimate realistic racing experience and its only the preview of the full Gran Turismo 5 game, which probably will be released next year. However, it recently became a Greatest Hits game, so at $29.99 its a great value if you're looking for something different.

what are the most useful minor modifications you can do to a fender stratocaster type guitar?

Hello, Craig! Some of the simpler changes I regularly make to my Stratocasters (besides initial setup, of course!) include replacing the stock string trees with roller trees ( http://store.guitarfetish.com/paofrosttrch.html ), switching to a graphite nut ( http://www.graphtech.com/products.html?CategoryID=5 ), installing a treble-bleed circuit ( http://www.bothners.co.za/articles/volumepot2.shtml ), blocking the upward movement of the tremolo bridge ( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091212203236AAwbLlQ ), and installing a quick-release strap-lock system. How to make a quick buck as a 13 year old boy?

im 13 and i live in new jersey. I have about $300 now but i need around $700 to buy a new Les Paul guitar. What can i do to make some money? Any chores possibly, but that sounds a little young. I cant mow lawns in the summer because everyone in my neighborhood hire landscapers. Is there anything i can do to get some money out of my friends? like scam them or something haha. Please tell me how to make some money, but please nothing online. Thanks!

Lone money to your parrents, and charge them interest, meaning that if you let them borrow 300 right now in a month or so they have to give you back 500 for doing them the favor. Or go into a candy stor or something like that buy something that if you buy a lot you can get it really cheap and if you sell it individually you can sell at a higher price, go to gamestop, buy a used video game, something kind of a new release and sell it for at least 10 dollars more to a friend lol , dont scam people though because they know where you live, or tell them to invest in you, to lend you the money and one day when you a famous musician youll pay them back ten fold.

Is it worth learning the electric guitar?

Anyway, I'm thinking about learning the Electric guitar, is it worth it? Is it easy? Cheers.

Hello there,

Is learning the guitar easy? No. No instrument is easy to learn to play. You must have desire, dedication and effort. Without that, you will not put in the hundreds of hours needed to learn to play well.

I also take exception to the comments made by one lady here. She said the guitar appears harder to play than it is. Either she is extremely gifted, nor she simply does not know what she is talking about. Given her other comments about people learning to play only to impress others and that people are interested in guitar because it is flashy, I strongly believe she simply does not know what she is talking about. Easy to learn? Well, consider this. If you have to play middle C on the piano that is simple. There is only one key on the keyboard that is middle C. By contrast, C appears on the fretboard of the guitar in several places. Knowing how to read music is of only limited value with the electric guitar. Most music for guitar, at least rock music, is written in tabulature (tabs) and not in musical notation. Fortunately tabs are quick and easy to learn. I believe learning to play the guitar well is very challenging, even for those who can play other instruments.

Is it worth it? Whether the effort to learn is worth it to you, depends on why you want to learn. The learning process is not easy. Without a desire to learn, most do not stick it out. So, you really have to want to learn to make it. If you have to ask, I sincerely doubt you have that burning desire to play.

Again, there was the comment that the guitar is not the enjoyable instrument to play. Again, I take exception to that comment. I love to play the guitar. No other instrument has come close to the enjoyment I get playing the guitar. At times in my life, I have played the trumpet, clarinet, saxophone, drums and piano. I did not love playing any of those, and no longer play any of them.Not only do I find playing the guitar enjoyable, I find it to be the most relaxing thing I can do.These days, I am under a great deal of stress caring for a dying father who needs round the clock care and attention. Whenever I need to get away from the stress, I can escape into playing the guitar. I sit in the dark and let my fingers go where they will. No songs. No set riffs. I simply play from the soul. Whatever comes out is my release. There is no better escape. I started playing guitar when I was 7, back in 1957. I still play. I am as fascinated by the possibilities the guitar presents today as I was 50 years ago. For me, it has been a life long love affair. In all the years I have played, I have never had to ask myself if it is worth it. If you have to ask, I respectfully suggest you do not have the desire to play. Stick with the instrument for which you have such desire.
