I own a small guitar hero website where I offer free downloadable faceplates for Guitar Hero: On Tour that you can print out and put on your guitar grip.

My files are currently JPEGs, but I want to know if there is a better way to get high quality images. Is it Bitmap or Gif of something else?

Answer
JPEGs are generally good for things like photographs. GIF and PNG are good for graphics, where you have solid colors (things like icons, or logos).

Then there are vector images, like EPS, AI, SVG, PS, or PDF. These are really good when you have something that you want to scale up or down. A lot of printers will understand formats like AI (Adobe Illustrator), PS (PostScript) and PDF.

Edit: I should be clearer, "printers" as in Kinkos or such will understand those formats. The printer like the kind you have on your desk should do just fine with PDF or PS.
