Q. won't drive into it like it is petrified. I have tried different studs and it is all the same. It is for a wall mount for a guitar holder so I need it sturdy. Why won't it penetrate? Anything I can do?
Answer
In old construction the grain of the wood has tightened up so much that it is like steel. The answer is to drill a pilot hole just a little smaller than the screw and than it will allow you to screw it in.
