Can I use the GH2 guitar for Xbox 360 on Playstation3?

I have a wired guitar for xbox 360 and it has a usb connection. Is it possible to use this for Rockband or guitar hero on Playstation 3? you would think so because there are usb connections on the PS3. Please let me know.
