What are the best strap locks for guitar flips?

I have a 2005 American Made Fender Stratocaster. Weighs about 8-9 pounds. What would be the strongest strap locks for doing guitar flips?
By guitar flips, I mean throwing my guitar over my shoulder. Like how Pete Wentz does it, or Saosin.

Answer
Hello, Tyler! Although I am not positive as to what you mean by a guitar flip, the Schaller (see http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Hardware,_parts/Electric_guitar:_Strap_buttons/1/Schaller_Strap_Security_Locks.html ) or Grover (see http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Hardware,_parts/Electric_guitar:_Strap_buttons/Grover_Quick-release_Strap_Locks.html ) style is very strong and pretty much foolproof! They are available from many on-line vendors, retail shops, and of course eBay. Use longer than the standard attachment screws for the buttons, just to make sure they do not pull out of the body. Best regards, Dana

P.S. Then yes, Schaller or Grover; and most definitely, buy longer screws! Best regards, Dana

I have a custom made stratocaster guitar and would like to know any useful tips for improving any part of it, tone, comfort etc etc. thanks :)

Answer
Hello, Craig! Some of the simpler changes I regularly make to my Stratocasters (besides initial setup, of course!) include replacing the stock string trees with roller trees ( http://store.guitarfetish.com/paofrosttrch.html ), switching to a graphite nut ( http://www.graphtech.com/products.html?CategoryID=5 ), installing a treble-bleed circuit ( http://www.bothners.co.za/articles/volumepot2.shtml ), blocking the upward movement of the tremolo bridge ( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091212203236AAwbLlQ ), and installing a quick-release strap-lock system. More extensive (and expensive) changes would be converting to locking tuners (http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guitar,_solid_peghead_tuners/Schaller_Tuners/Schaller_Locking_Guitar_Machines.html ), changing to an LSR roller nut ( http://www.marshallparts.com/products/718/FENDER-LSR-ROLLER-NUT.htm ), upgrading (Wilkinson or Fender Deluxe model) and stabilizing ( http://joe.emenaker.com/TremStabilizers/index.html ) the tremolo bridge, adding a modified TBX Control ( http://www.guitarelectronics.com/product/WDUSSS5L1205 and http://www.fenderforum.com/forum.html?db=&topic_number=194509 ), and installing stacked-humbucker pickups (Seymour-Duncan, DiMarzio, etc.). Hope I didn’t get too carried away; if not, check out http://www.tdpri.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-37451.html for lots of other thoughts! Best regards, Dana

Guitar straps?

guitar quick release strap
on guitar virtually all levy s acoustic guitars and there was
guitar quick release strap image

i got an acoustic guitar and one end of the guitar strap has a string attached and i have no idea where it attaches to the guitar so can you help me. and put it in simple words with no guitar talk because i don't know many things about guitar.

Answer
You will find that all acoustic guitars are the same way.

A: You can go cheap: tie a shoe string around the head and on your guitar and tie the other end to the strap

B: Spend a few bucks and get a "clip on" quick release http://www.guitarcenter.com/Planet-Waves-Quick-Release-Guitar-Strap-System-101182277-i1133523.gc

C:Ruin your acoustic guitar and install a strap holder on the back of your guitar head (not recommended)

I have tried both A and B, both of which will work. The only problem with A is that your strap will always have to be attached to your guitar; you can't take it off easily. With option B, you can put on and take off your strap really fast.

Connecting my Guitar Strap To The Headstock?

I forgot what those things were called but there are these things that you put on the headstock and then connect your strap to it. well i just want to know if those things are annoying and if i should get one or just get a strap button attached by a professional instead

Answer
Indeed, you can have a strap button attached to the heel of the neck. That's quite a straight forward operation, but it's probably a good idea to leave it to someone with the proper tools and knowledge unless you know what you're doing.

Or, you can use one of the many methods of attaching the strap to the headstock. These include:

Q. Im looking for that thing for an acoustic that ties around the headstock from the guitar strap. I know planet waves do a quick release but I don't really like the look of that. Does anyone know what i want?

Answer
I think I know what you mean. The only ones I've seen come with the strap so I don't know where you'd get a separate one. Good luck though.

Will Guitar Hero 3 Guitars Work With Guitar Hero World Tour? The Wii Version to be exact?

guitar quick release strap
on Guitar Strap Locks | Guitar Center
guitar quick release strap image

Sparky T

Answer
I have been researching that and found out that the makers of Guitar Hero did NOT release information about compatibility of the GH3 guitars with Guitar Hero World Tour. Compatibility will most likely be a NO though because of one change to the guitar.

Contents of the GH3 Guitar:
Guitar
Neck
Wii Remote not Included

Contents of GHWT Guitar Pack:
Guitar (Breakneck), GHWT Guitar, Strap, 2 AA batteries, Sticker Pack, Quick start guide and the Hardware manual

As you can see, Guitar Hero 3 Guitars use the Wii Remote (hence the Wii Remote not included message) and the GHWT Guitars will use AA Batteries (Like the Wii Balance Board). Of course though, people will experiment when the game comes out and their might be an unexpected result.
