Is the guitar any different? Why does a gibson les paul studio 1995 cost 600 where as a 2008 will cost 1200. Is it the hardware? the wood? the neck? the pickups? bigsby? what is it. im on the market for a gibson les paul studio. and just wanna find a nice gutiar worth the money i pay for it. Thanks for the help.

Answer
The Les Paul studio is essentially a lower line Les Paul. It does not have the binding or other cosmetic attributes as the standard or the custom. In 1995 the cost of a standard was between $1000 and $1200. The studio however was about $600 to $800. In the last 13 years the cost of all Gibson guitars has just about doubled. This is true for all models and lines. The studio is just one of those lines that has unfortunately almost doubled in price during that time. The difference between the two model years is minimal and if you can find a 95 in good shape for that price than it is a good deal. Keep in mind that the studio does not appreciate in value the same as the other models do but it does retain its value fairly well.
