I'm planning to learn the guitar over the summer and was wondering what guitar pick is best for a beginner? Also, what store would carry that brand of pick (if a certain store only carries it)?

I heard there are "thin" ones and "thick" ones and everything in between. So is there an exact "width" I should get them in?

There's no such thing as "beginner" picks vs "experienced" picks. There are just guitar picks.
They do come in different sizes, materials and thicknesses. Every guitar player eventually discovers which ones he or she likes best. You can buy guitar picks in any music store. They're generally very inexpensive, Go to your local music store. For less than $10 you can buy a handful of different picks in a variety of sizes, materials and thicknesses, then take them home and try them all out. You will figure out for yourself which ones you like and which ones you don't.
