How can I put a small hole in a guitar pick?

I thought i was being creative when i came up with the idea to make guitar pick earrings, but apparently it's been done before.

How can i put a small hole in a pick so i can do this?

Try heating up the tip of a sewing needle and than piercing it through the pick.
