Q. i want to get guitar hero 3 for the pc but i hate the xplorer guitar. i love the Les Paul guitar that comes with the Xbox 360 version & would like to know how to use it on a computer.

Thank you.

Answer
If you already have Guitar Hero III for Xbox 360, why do you want to buy it for PC?
If you don't and I'm just an idiot who reads questions wrong, I can confidently say that when Guitar Hero 3 for PC gets a little more popular you should be able to buy one of Ebay or RedOctane.com.
So look it up a little later in time, and you might find it on one of the forementioned sites. If you manage to find it, buy the Game Only for PC and Buy it off the internet. I don't think you can get an adapter for it. RedOctane and Activision and Who not would not have THAT many brains, you should know that!

What gift do I get for someone who plays a guitar?

I need to get a gift for my roommate, preferably one under $20. He is an amateur musician (guitar: Les Paul, if it makes a difference), so I'd like to get him something to do that.

I don't want to get him a set a guitar picks because most of the guitarists I know have a "favorite" pick and don't really make use of the ones people get them. I figure maybe I should get him something practical like a new set of strings, but since I don't know squat about guitars, I'm worried that I'll get the wrong size/type. Any help appreciated!

Answer
a guitar strap

What will happen if I replace the pickups of my guitar of a les paul's will it sound like one?

I have a les paul copy whose body is good but does not sound like a les paul. If I replace the pickups with those of a les paul's will it sound like one finally? What if You replace the pickups of any other guitar with the les paul's will it sound like it as well?

Answer
I don't know what brand and model of guitar do you have, but if it has features like these. Replace the stock PUPs by Gibson's PUPs and you would get LP's sound.

1. Body must be a mahogany body. I don't know do you similar to the wooden or not, but mahogany has their own smell. You can try with original LP. It would be great if your body is carved top and top with maple.

Gibson PUPs give alot of treble and mahogany delivers dull tone. They are the very good combination, but if your body is plywood or other woods. You will get lot of treble and its not LP sound any more.

2. Would be great if your guitar has a set in neck or neck thru construction. Original LP have set in neck. This will deliver great sustain.

3. Cables inside the guitar. If your guitar originall cost less than $ 800. I would recommend you to change all cables inside the guitar. Better quality of cable gives you great sound.

Hope this would help.

How much would a 1970 Fresher guitar Les Paul replica be worth?

Its a Fresher, sunburst guitar from around the 1970's. I haven't seen any other Freshers like it and I wondered how much it would be worth. I'm guessing it's a Les Paul replica, but i'm not 100% sure. It has two tone and two volume controls, two brass pickups, and the fret markers are rectangular and the markings start on the first fret. It's not very descriptive, but could anyone point me in the right direction?

Answer
I think that you are right about the guitar being a Les Paul copy. Is it the one in your avatar pic? As long as it's not really beat up and still has all of the original hardware, I think you could get $400 for it. Maybe more if you throw in the case. I think you should hold on to it though and here's why. Those guitars are getting harder and harder to come by these days and they were made by a great Japanese luthier named Chu Shin Gakki who went on to make the Japanese Jacksons that were better than the American ones in the late 80's. The Fresher name is starting to reach minor legendary status among collectors because of this but the numbers don't quite reflect it yet. Hold onto it for a while if you can.

How do I know if the electric guitar I bought for my son is OK?

I bought an electric guitar (Les Paul) today for my 11 year old son at music stop. It was used and on sale for $193.00 CDN. The sales person convinced me that was the guitar to buy rather than a new one (not a Les Paul) for $199.00. The problem is since I got home with it my son noticed that one of the pickups on it is much lower into the guitar than the other. Is this normal, can it be adjusted?

Answer
Its not a huge deal, as long as the sound is the same.
I am a fender/Gibson Explorer man, with no real experience with a les paul. If you plug it in and the pickup sounds quieter, just buzzes, ect, then you need to get it fixed.

Why do guitar companies never come out with new models?

guitar les paul
on Gibson Les Paul Special - Les Paul Forums

Emmett Mcd

I was just looking at guitars at gibson, and I only saw four different electric guitars; Les Paul, flying v, explorer, and the sg. All of which where designed in 50's through 70's. Though they might have come out with different features and colors, they were all the same. Why?

Answer
Because some companies use the motto if it ain't broken don't fix it And it cost money to introduce a new model and some companies don't like taking risks

the explorer, flying v, firebird , thunderbird etc were flops for the most part when the were introduced to the market and didn't gain much acceptance until the early 90's when bands started to use them

Would there be any different in sound with a emg 81 & 85 placed on a Peter Frampton Les Paul guitar?

I have head that a emg's made cheap electric guitar sound better. But what would it do when it is placed on a Peter Frampton Les Paul guitar? Would to sound be much better or would it still be the same?

Answer
The pickups you mentioned are a very good pair of well-matched pickups. ON the Les paul, the sound will be super clean, very responsive especially on the high end. Very good choice for the Les Paul. The sound will improve by at least 50%.
