and i love it, but its time to get new strings. what do you recommend?

Answer
Hi.

Due to the slim body of the guitar, it can sound quite thin, so you need a string to counter that thinness. So go for a set of Phosphor Bronze (full, rounded, mellow tones) in gauge 12 (based on the thinnest string being 12 thousands of an inch).

In the factory, Yamaha fit D'Addario Gauge 12 Phosphor Bronze strings to the APX500II.

Hope this helps.
