Does my guitar need to be professionally adjusted?

I bought a Peavey guitar from a buddy a few days ago and when I play the high E string on the first fret it seems to vibrate on the second fret a bit so it sounds off to me. My main question is: Is there something that I can do to fix this, or do I have to bring it in somewhere and have them look at it?

In my opinion a professional setup is always a good idea. Should run you $40 or less.
