I haven't played for quite a while but I never really learned how to string this guitar. It is an Ibanez with tuning locks. Silver body black trim. I looked around online but couldn't find out. I was hoping someone could answer here but If not I can take to guitar center where it was purchased about 6 years ago and have someone show me. But I would at least like to get a general idea.

Answer
I imagine you mean a floating tremelo, with locking at the nut.

Heres a good video:

Hope this helps

Note: if you use the same guage strings as you had previously you will not need to adjust the springs

Also, when tightening the strings from slack, set all the fine tuning knobs on the floating bridge almost all the way out, (you should only need to fine tune up, as the strings stretch.)

Pull the vibrato bar forward until the bridge sits at the right level, hold it there and tune the strings ( with the tuning knobs on the head) until the bridge sits slightly lower than you want on its own, so you are now around the right height.

first tune the 6th (thickest) string
next, tune the 5th sting.

You will now need to go back and tune the 6th, then the 5th, then the 4th.

now tune the 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd.

now tune the 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd.

now tune the 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and first.

As the stings tension the bridge will move up (the springs stretch) , this method takes the slack as you go so you are not chasing your tail.

When finished, lock the strings at the head stock (not too tight or you will strip the thread) and make final adjustments with the fine tuning.

You will have to thrash it out a bit to settle the strings and tune again.
