If there actually is a difference? Because I'm looking to buy one on Amazon, and I noticed one that was specifically called a classical guitar capo. I have an acoustic guitar, and I was wondering if that would still work.
Answer
The classical guitar has a wider neck, and thicker strings.
The capo for a classical guitar needs to be a different length, have a different mechanical strength, and it's pad needs to be the right consistency.
You should get the one designed for your type of guitar. The classical capo on a steel string guitar will make the open notes kind of fuzzy and indistinct, not the clear sound you want.
