my strat doesn't have the serial number on the head stock or the neck plate, but when i opened up the guitar to look under the pick guard I found the number MO2172668 (the O could be a zero but i don't know) I've searched it all kind of ways even on the fender database and can't find anything... I think i got ripped off

Answer
The MO2172668 number is not a Fender serial number, it is probably an individual part or assembly number. Since there is no serial number in either of the typical places you looked, it may have been made up from various components, which are possibly non-Fender pieces. Remove the neck and check both the base and the neck pocket in the body. If there are no date codes, part numbers, or quality markings whatsoever, this guitar is most likely a clone. If you want to buy a real Fender guitar, always make sure there is a correctly-placed serial number, and that the year-of-manufacture and country-of-origin at least visually matches the general features. Best regards, Dana
