Hello there,
To my way of thinking, you need a fairly flat fretboard for shred. 12 inch radius or flatter. I think a fixed bridge is preferable to avoid tuning instabilty. But if you want a whammy bar, that is fine. Get a tremolo bridge.
I do like Ibanez guitars. Ibanez makes some great guitars. I do not consider the Gio series part of those. They are too cheaply constructed for my tastes. They seem like low end Squiers to me. I think the RG series is better.

I liked the older Charvels (pre-Fender buyout). Charvel made a great fast slim neck.

Some of the newer Jacksons are decent. Take a look at them before you decide.

I thnk Schecter makes some great guitars for the price. Do take a look at that line.

One of those has active pickups and the other passive. Which depends on your taste in pickups.
Schecter makes a good 7 string, if you are interested in one.
