I am taking my cheap guitar and upgrading it. changing everything except for the body, but if I were to put in a floyd rose, how would my guitar benefit from this? Or would i be better off just using a normal bridge?

If you use the tremolo a lot and wish to avoid the inherent tuning problems that come with it than the Floyd Rose could be what you need. There are other non locking tremolos and locking tremolos available so be sure to research the possibilities.
