In other words, when you make a purchase, will they put the one that was on display in a case and give it to you? Or will they get a brand new one out of a separate storage or something and give it to you?
Answer
Depends - most of the time, it's the one you just played. If you order one, it's the one the company sends. Brand new isn't as important, with lower end guitars, as getting one that is set up right and plays well. Used to be a manager there - remember, you get 30 days no questions asked, and a new guitar in a box is normally shipped palletized, meaning strapped and wrapped with a bunch of others the same make/model. Not a pretty box package with a bow, although some amps look cool in their shipping boxes. If there is a flaw with the guitar you are looking at on the shop floor, ask them to order another one and take that one home - swap when the new one arrives. BTW, no I don't work there anymore :)
