I have a small 40Watt amp with a emulated head phones port, a huge speaker, and a guitar jack with both wires exposed on one end.
If i plug the jack end into the headphones port and connect the two exposed wires of it into the + and - end of the speaker.
Shouldn't it play through the speaker now?

Answer
It would have been nice to know what brand and model of amp you have.

None the less, what is likely happening is that you are using a mono guitar cable (2 wires), and the headphone jack is stereo. Depending on how it's wired, the mono plug could be shorting out the signal.

Try plugging in the cable just until you fell the first click (there will be about 1/8" of the barrel of the plug still showing). See if that works.

You should hear something, although as another poster mentioned this is not an ideal situation.

Good luck.
