Tis the season for holiday gift shopping and I am looking to get a slide for guitar, especially to play a Cage the Elephant song. I don't know much about guitar slides, so any recommendations for one that would fit a guy's hand who's about 6 ft tall?
He will probably use it on index finger and thinking steel not glass.

Answer
The height of the person playing the slide is not important. What matters is whether or not the person wants the slide to fit tight on the finger or not. Also, some wear it on the little fingers, while other wear it on the ring finger (a few on the middle finger).

The most common materials to use is either glass or steel (or brass). There is no "best", just different sounds and different players will recommend different sizes.

The best ones if you go for glass tend to be a real glass bottle neck. Some prefer a glass coricidin bottle.

There are lots of other materials also, such as porcelain.

Edit: What I meant to say about the fit of the slide, is that hand and finger size (thicker/heavier, versus thinner/slimmer) may matter - not a persons height :-)
