hey im planning on buying a guitar effect pedal. the thing is i dont really know much about them. Ive been playing electric for about a year now and i was looking for a good overdrive sound. I'm not really sure what type of music i play right now. im just looking for a good well rounded one. my price range is maybe around $175

Zoom makes a variety of multi effects boxes that you can find on eBay for under 100. I have the bass version, and it has at least 40 preset sounds and effects! At this stage, this might be a great option for you while you're still looking for your 'sound'.
