I have a fender starcaster, the guitar has a volume knob, and two tone knobs. The amp has a volume knob, a bass knob, and a treble knob. what should I set these to to make is sound like an acoustic guitar?

Answer
There's no way to simply adjust your controls and have a Starcaster...or any other electric sound like an acoustic. The best you can do is to play it cleanly...no distortion and use the "brightest" settings you have for presence and give it some bass.

I use a Boss AC-3 pedal: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Boss-AC3-Acoustic-Simulator?sku=151043 It wouldn't fool anybody in a studio, but for stage work it beats dragging an acoustic to gigs.
Some amps like the Roland Cube series have this effect built in: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Roland-Cube-15X-Guitar-Amp?sku=487030
