i brought my guitar cable upstairs on day and my dad threw it in the trash thinking it was broken. i had to pick it out of the trash and it smells like utter shit. how can i clean it?

Dish soap and water. Wash it, rinse it, wipe it dry, and let it sit overnight. It will be fine to use in the morning.
Or... you can use some rubbing alcohol (zippo lighter fluid works too). Just put some on a cloth, rub it over the cable to get off the utter ****, and the fluid will evaporate immediately, so you can use the cable right away.
If your dad threw it away, he should clean it for you. Maybe that will teach him to show more respect for your stuff.
