I'm so confused! I got the guitar for my 7th birthday. My dad tuned it last night. I'm now much older and I want to play, "The only exception" By Paramore on the guitar. It's an acoustic. Can anyone tell me the order of the strings, the notes that goes with them, and that stuff? Thanks, it's a big help!

Answer
First of all before you learn a song, you need to learn your guitar,(than sounds weird I know) you need to know the names of the strings, they are (starting from the low string to the high string) E, A, D, G ,B, E. yes there are two E strings. The low E and the high E. when I was learning guitar, I was told a simple rhyme to learn the strings. (It's very silly, but affective, I learnt this in year 4, now I'm in year 9) so it goes , Elephants And Donkeys Grow Big Ears. If you learn that. Then playing the guitar will be easier. Now on the neck of the guitar you have your threats (no I don't know the correct way of how to spell that) they are numbered. At the top, starting at number 1 . And all the way down to the bottom. So now you know your guitar. Lets test you out. Ever heard of the song smoke on the water. Well it's easy to play. You only need one string. And that is your lower E string. ( btw the number 0 when playing guitar is when you strum the string without holding onto the threat. ) now you need to play 0 3 5 0 3 6 5 0 3 5 3 0. Now once you've learnt that, congratulations you have learnt your first song. I would continue this but my iPad has 3% left and is about to die so if you wish to contact me,on this address azaria1@live.co.uk best of luck :)
