I just bought a banjo. and was wondering if it's okay to use a regular guitar capo on a banjo. It may be a stupid question.... but I just don't want to screw up my banjo after having it for like 3 hours.

Answer
It won't damage your banjo, but it may not work that well. Capos are designed to fit the radius and width of a specific instrument's fretboard. I've got 3. One that is totally flat for classical guitars, one that is slightly curved for steel-string acoustics, and one that is a little more radically curved for electric guitars. A guitar capo may not apply even pressure to all the strings on your banjo, which could cause some string to not ring out properly, or some to be pulled sharp.
