Answer
You can go to any decent music store and buy a beginner's book with all the chords
diagrammed out for you. A chord is a chord, so as long as the book has all the chord
forms it doesn't make much difference which one you get. One by a famous player is
still gonna have the same chords as any other. LEARN YOUR CHORDS, including
your majors ,minors 7ths, and then learn your bar chords which are better for playing
rock on an electric guitar. You can buy song books with tabs that show you how to
play melody, lead, and fills, but learn you chords first-everything else comes from
that because you can play along with yourself singing and get in a lot of practice
and tell if you've got the right rhythm and such. Playing Guitar is pretty easy, but
you got to practice to keep improving. If you have a real love for music and the
guitar, then practice isn't a job, it's FUN. I could(and have) played for hours.
Try to find someone who you can play with and someone who knows more than
you-they can show you licks and shortcuts that can save you a lot of time.
It won't come in a day, but you'll probably be surprised by how quick you go
from zero to hero. Remember, PRACTICE! Good Luck.
